As the cost of providing athletic scholarships for 20 varsity sports at the University of New Hampshire continues to rise, endowing athletic scholarships has become a top priority. As our varsity teams continue to compete at a high level it becomes imperative to continue bringing top student-athletes to Durham. Many of our teams are receiving national exposure due to the level of student-athletes that make the decision to come to UNH. To ensure UNH has the permanent foundation to provide consistent scholarship levels into the future, endowed athletic scholarship levels must be dramatically increased.

Can anyone establish an endowed athletic scholarship?
Yes. An endowed scholarship is a special gift, creating a perpetual financial source that is used to provide student-athletes with a quality educational and athletic experience. For assistance with establishing an endowed scholarship in your name or a benefactor's name, please phone the Wildcat Athletics Council Office.

What is the difference between an endowed scholarship and the Wildcat Athletics Council?
Endowed scholarships compliment the goals and efforts of the Wildcat Athletics Council, which provides annual (current) tuition support. The Wildcat Athletics Council is not permanent and therefore must raise annual funds that are necessary to provide scholarships to UNH student-athletes.

With the increase in endowed scholarship funding, UNH will be able to attract the best and brightest student-athletes around the country. Investing in the future of UNH student-athletes demonstrates a donor's commitment to ensuring the University continues to be a leader in academics and athletics.

Ways to Fund an Endowed Scholarship
There are numerous ways to fund an endowed scholarship including outright gifts of cash, bequests, securities, life insurance, retirement assets or properties. Providing funding through inclusion in a will or other estate planning vehicles such as charitable gift annuities, pooled income fund, charitable remainder trusts, personal property and real estate is also possible to increase the level of an established scholarship.
