Even though we have fewer full-time coaches, smaller operating budgets, leaner support staffs and less recruiting dollars than our competitors, UNH Athletics collectively recorded its most successful year in the 2007-2008 season. Here's the good news from on and off the field:
- Every UNH team competed in conference postseason play;
- Three teams won conference regular-season titles; two were crowned tournament champions;
- Six competed in NCAA tournament competition – four other teams boasted individual qualifiers – and UNH garnered 187 points in the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup to once again place among the top 100 of more than 360 Division I schools;
- Eight Wildcat student-athletes received All-America accolades and seven Coach of the Year awards were awarded to New Hampshire’s staff;
- In the spring 2008 semester, 14 of our 20 teams had overall GPAs of 3.0 or higher;
- A total of 201 student-athletes were named to the 2008 America East Academic (winter/spring) Honor Roll for recording a GPA of 3.0 or above;
- Of those 201 honored, 113 of those were also named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for possessing a GPA of at least 3.5, the most of any other conference institution.
You would be hard pressed to find better student-athletes than those right here at UNH. As we begin another exciting year, we're inviting you to be part of our success. Your gift not only provides crucial scholarship funds to support student-athletes, but also provides unrestricted support for team and program enrichment.
We'd like to thank you for your past support in making all this possible, and hope you will continue to be a part of our success.
