Up, Up, Up: Stadium Heads To The Top

On to the top.
Â
The crane at the Wildcat Stadium construction site has been lifting beams to the highest points on the facility this week and the bulk of the main steel work will be done shortly.Â
Â
Workers have been welding the framework for the gable roof on the stadium into place.
Â
The construction site has been buzzing.
Â
"There are a lot of things happening all at once," said Steve Metcalf, UNH's deputy athletic director. "We've already seen the bridge take shape, the piers for the bridge. Now you can kind of visualize from the ticket booth and main entrance, up that path going into the main concourse. You can see the path it's going to take. And you can see the scale of what we're doing out there."
Â
The scale is grand.
Â
"We've all seen over the last few weeks the stadium go up before our eyes and the stadium is about to reach its final height so you'll see the magnitude of what we're building," Metcalf said. "I think it's been great to see these bits and pieces, but to finally get to the very, very top and just to see the magnitude of everything we're doing out there is really exciting."
Â
Thursday, a concrete pumper was back on the scene, sending product high up into the building to the patio decks and other areas.
Â
Down below, metal exterior walls are being framed.
Â
"In some areas you can see the frame going up now and you'll see those walls getting filled in over the next couple of weeks," Metcalf said.
Â
Concrete has been poured for the stadium's concourse. Rough framing for utilities and fireproofing of the structure have also been recent projects.
Â
The goal is to have the bulk of the facility closed in by early winter, likely a little after the new year, Eric Price said. Price is the construction superintendent for stadium contractor PC Construction.
Â
The multi-purpose stadium is scheduled to be completed next summer and will host its first football game on Sept. 10, 2016 when the Wildcats take on Holy Cross.
Â
The UNH athletics department has launched a marketing campaign around Wildcat Stadium.
Â
Fans can sign up now to gain a priority position for 2016 football season tickets in the facility.
Â
The state-of-the-art stadium will be packed with features and amenities including everything from extra-wide seats with cupholders to climate-controlled seating in a Club lounge that will also include premium views of the field as well as top-of-the-line food choices.
Â
A new video display board, sound system and permanent concession stands along with gathering areas such as a 'Cat Pack Plaza and rooftop patios are also part of the package.
Â
For a fully refundable deposit of $25 per seat, fans can put their name on a list that will establish priority position for tickets. A seat selection date will be announced at a later time. Fans may get on the list at http://bit.ly/1G9T9fK.
