A pump truck delivers concrete to the structure that will support a pedestrian bridge.
Pouring It On, Let The Seasons Begin

The concrete kept coming on Wednesday morning on the site of the new UNH Stadium.
Â
The pumping unit from Northeast Concrete Pumping sent several truckloads of concrete skyward and the folks from Mas-Con Corp – a commercial masonry and concrete foundation subcontractor out of Laconia - poured it into forms that shape the support structure for the pedestrian bridge. Â
Â
The bridge support, located on the scoreboard end of the Stadium, stands about 20 feet high and is the tallest part of the construction project to this point.
Â
The bridge will provide access to the concourse level of the stadium.
Â
Down below the bridge support, workers placed yellow poly and forms where more concrete will be poured in coming days for a slab at the base of the stadium.
Â
UNH opens the 2015 football season a week from tomorrow – on Thursday, Sept. 3 (10 p.m., ET) – with a game at San Jose State, an FBS school. The Wildcats play their home opener in exactly a month – against Central Connecticut State University on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. on Family Weekend.
Â
In the meantime, the new home for the football team and other Wildcat teams, too, is beginning to rise out of the ground.
Â
Pieces of the crane that will be used to erect steel have been arriving on site this week. Steel is due to be delivered and begin going up next week.
Â
The all-purpose Stadium is due to be finished next summer, in time for the 2016 football season.
Â
The Wildcats are ranked as high as No. 7 in the country in FCS going into the San Jose State game.
Â
They went 12-2 to finish last season ranked No. 3 in the nation, which was the highest year-end ranking in program history. The CAA champion Wildcats went 8-0 in conference play to win their first outright league title since 1994 and reached the NCAA Division I FCS Championship semifinals for the second year in a row, matching the deepest postseason run in school history.
Â
UNH plays its first three games on the road before returning to Cowell Stadium to face Central Connecticut. The Wildcats are at Colgate on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. and at Stony Brook on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
Â
Other home games are against Elon on Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. for Homecoming, against Rhode Island on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m., against Richmond on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. on Salute to Service Day and against Maine on Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
