Dunbar, McManus Rally 'Cats to 2-2 Tie vs. Maine

AUBURN, Maine – Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) both recorded a goal and an assist to rally the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to Saturday night 's 2-2 tie against the University of Maine at Norway Savings Bank Arena.
UNH moved to 5-11-1 overall and 4-6-1 in Hockey East, as well as 1-1-1 in overtime games this season. Maine is now 3-11-1, 2-8-1.
Dunbar scored her first career goal and her first multiple-point game while McManus matched her personal best of two points established Nov. 5 at Providence College.
UNH goaltender Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) finished with 25 saves while Maine counterpart Carly Jackson stopped 36 shots.

GAME RECAP
- Maine recorded an 8-7 shot advantage in the scoreless first period.
- The home team quickly took a 2-0 lead on goals 2 minutes, 13 seconds apart by Morgan Sakundiak (at 4:18) and Brooke Stacey (6:31).
- UNH responded with its first goal of the game less than three minutes later when Dunbar netted her first career goal at 8:49. Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and McManus set up the tally.
- The Black Bears took that one-goal advantage and 19-16 edge in shots into the second intermission.
- New Hampshire tied the score, 2-2, with 2:25 remaining in regulation on McManus' sixth goal of the season. Dunbar earned the lone assist.
- The Wildcats went on their fourth power play of the game when a Maine skater was sent to the penalty box for hooking with 63 seconds left in the third period.
- Jackson turned aside a shot by Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) and two more by Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) to send the game into overtime.
- The 'Cats tallied an 18-6 shot advantage in the third period.
- In the opening 30 seconds of the five-minute extra session, Jackson prolonged the game by once again denying Schlagel and Fedeski.
- Jackson stopped two more shots the rest of the way and Cashin made a save on both shots she faced in OT.

- Cashin, the reigning Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, is 2-0-1 her last three starts with 95 saves and five goals allowed for a 1.62 GAA and .950 save percentage.
