Tanski Tallies Double-Double In 3-0 Win vs. Hartford

DURHAM, N.H. – Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) recorded a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to Saturday afternoon's straight-set victory against the University of Hartford at Lundholm Gym. The set scores were 25-10, 25-12, 25-21.
UNH completed the season sweep of the Hawks to extend its win streak to six matches, improve to 17-10 overall and 8-2 in America East. Hartford lost its fourth consecutive match to fall to 5-18, 2-8.
Tanski led the Wildcats with her 11 digs and the 10 kills ranked second. She committed only one error on 24 attempts for a .375 hitting percentage.

THE DIFFERENCE
- New Hampshire recorded a .347 hitting percentage with 40 kills and five errors on 101 attacks. The Wildcats opened at .393 in Set 1, followed by .353 in Set 2 and .308 in Set 3.
- Hartford recorded more errors (10) than kills (seven) in the first set and hit .040 for the match.
SET 1
- UNH won the first two points and rolled out to a 7-1 lead; Olhava, Smith and Hannah Petke (xx) recorded kills and Tanski had a service ace during a 5-0 run.
- The Wildcats had an 8-3 lead and won seven consecutive points, fueled by five straight Hartford attack errors, to take a commanding 15-3 advantage.
SET 2
- As in the first set, there were no ties or lead changes in the second set.
- New Hampshire held leads of 5-1 and 8-2 before the Hawks called a timeout.
- The Wildcats inched ahead 12-4 before Hartford's 4-0 run reduced the margin to four points, 12-8.
- The 'Cats called time out and, out of the break, back-to-back kills by Tanski and Severtson, as well as a Muses service ace, quelled the comeback and helped establish a 16-8 lead.
- UNH pushed the cushion to double digits, 21-11, when Smith recorded a kill and combined with Muses for a block.
- Smith and Severtson tallied back-to-back kills to end the set and give UNH a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET 3
- There were six ties and two lead changes in the third set.
- Hartford inched out to a 7-4 lead and held a one-point advantage, 9-8, when the Hawks won four consecutive points to build its largest lead of the match, 13-8.
- UNH trailed 18-13 before reeling off five consecutive points to level the score, 18-18. Muses and Smith combined for two blocks and Smith also tallied a pair of kills during the run.
- Hartford took the next two points to deny the Wildcats' bid to regain the lead, but the 'Cats responded with two straight points to forge a 20-20 tie.
- Hartford went back in front on just the team's second block but gave away the next point on a service error.
- Tanski closed out the set. She recorded a kill on the next two points to give New Hampshire its first lead, 23-21, since the start of the set (1-0). A Hartford attack error pushed the score to match point and Tanski sent the ball to the court for the set and match.
'CAT NIPS
- This marked UNH's eighth straight-set victory of the season; four of those wins have been in America East conference play.
- The .347 hitting percentage is the Wildcats' second-highest of the season; they recorded a mark of .390 at Delaware State.
- Hartford's .040 was the second-lowest by an opponent this season.
- Severtson increased her season assist total to 1,051 for No. 9 on the program's list of single-season superlatives.
