GAME RECAP
- UNH and Stony Brook, along with Albany, entered the game tied atop the America East conference standings at 3-0.
- UNH's senior captains combined for the second time in the game when Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.) set up Nicole Grote (Ellicott City, Md.) at 23:17 of the second half to lift the Wildcats within 5-3.
- Stony Brook slowly pulled away with six consecutive goals spanning 12 minutes to build an 11-3 lead with 6:34 remaining.
- New Hampshire was still within striking distance, 7-3, when it called time out at 12:43. After an extended offensive possession, the Wildcats turned the ball over and the Seawolves swiftly converted that into Kylkie Ohmiller's goal at 9:26. SBU won the ensuing draw control and scored 30 seconds later to quickly extend the advantage to 9-3.
- Courtney Murphy and Ohmiller potted goals 10 seconds apart – at 6:44 and 6:34, respectively – to put the game out of reach.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- UNH limited Stony Brook's high-scoring offense, which entered the game ranked sixth in the country in scoring (14.33 goals per game), to four goals on nine shots in the first half.
- Through 30 minutes, the stats were relatively even. SBU held the slight edge in goals (4-2), shots (9-7) and ground balls (7-5). UNH had a 4-3 advantage in draw controls and turnovers were even at 6.
- The disparity wasn't that much larger in the second half, where the Seawolves generated an 11-7 shot advantage and committed fewer turnovers (3-6). UNH, however, recorded the edge in both ground balls (4-3) and draw controls (6-4).
- The four goals and 14 shots both matched UNH's lowest outputs of the season.
- UNH is now 0-2 against nationally-ranked teams this season.
