Max Gildon Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - University of New Hampshire freshman defenseman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) has been named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for his four-goal performance over two games as the Wildcats went 1-1-0 versus Colorado College on Oct. 20-21.
Gildon netted his first collegiate hat trick in the 6-3 victory on Oct. 20, while he found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 in the 2-1 loss on Oct. 21. His game winner on Friday was his second of the season. Gildon leads the team with six goals, while he is tied for first with seven points. His six goals are tied for first in the nation.
The Wildcats are 5-1-0 and are off to their best start to a season in 14 years when they were also 5-1-0 in 2003-2004. UNH is ranked No. 12 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine College Hockey Poll, while the Wildcats are No. 14 in the latest USCHO.com Division I Poll.
UNH travels to Burlington, Vt., to take on the Vermont Catamounts on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:05 p.m. After playing at UMass (Nov. 4), the Wildcats will return to the Whittemore Center on Friday, Nov. 10, to take on UMass Lowell at 7:00 p.m. The first pin of a four-pin series to commemorate Coach Umile's final season will be a giveaway at the game.
