Armstrong, Leissner Record Double-Doubles in 111-31 Win vs. Lyndon State

DURHAM, N.H. – Jacoby Armstrong (Dallas, Texas) and Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) both recorded a double-double to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Saturday afternoon's 111-31 victory against Lyndon State College (Vt.) at Lundholm Gym.
Armstrong shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor and added a free throw to finish with 13 points and 11 rebounds, which matched his career high. Leissner tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds – in just 12 minutes – for his fourth double-double of the season.
Two other Wildcats nearly recorded a double-double. Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) had 17 points (5-6 FGs; 7-7 FTs) and eight rebounds in 12 minutes. Luke Rosinski (Derry, N.H.) recorded eight points – all on free throws – and nine rebounds in 20 minutes; he also had two assists and three steals.
LSC was led by Jahleel Gabriel and Kevin Love with six points apiece.
UNH is now 3-8. This was an exhibition game for Division III Lyndon State (1-6).

- New Hampshire returns to action Dec. 20 at George Washington and Dec. 22 at Fairfield University; start time for both games is 7 p.m.

GAME RECAP
- New Hampshire scored the first 18 points of the game to lead wire-to-wire.
- A layup by Love and 3-pointer from Zach Knowlton trimmed the deficit to 13 points, but Lyndon State would get no closer the rest of the way.
- UNH led by as many as 49 points in the first half, 63-14, when Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) connected from beyond the 3-point arc with 33 seconds on the clock.
- The Wildcats opened the second half with an 8-0 run to extend the advantage beyond 50 points, 71-17, at 17:59.
- UNH held its largest lead of the game, 86 points (109-23), when Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) hit a layup at 5:33.
- The 'Cats did not attempt a shot (from the floor or foul line) the last three minutes of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The 111 points marked the highest total scored by the Wildcats sine Feb. 26, 1994, when they prevailed 113-111 in overtime vs. Delaware. UNH's record for points in a game is 116 vs. Brandeis on Feb. 20, 1971.
- New Hampshire scored 63 points in the first half; the school record for points in a half is 64 (Feb. 4, 1989 vs. Vermont in the second half).
- UNH shot 50% from the floor (39-78) and limited the Hornets to 27.3% (12-44).
- The Wildcats recorded a 66-12 rebounding advantage, including 35-3 on the offensive glass.
- UNH finished with sizable advantages in points in the paint (46-10), off turnovers (41-17), second-chance (47-0) and fastbreak (10-0).
- The 'Cats recorded season highs in points, field goals made (39) and attempted (78), 3-point FGs made (13) and attempted (37), rebounds, assists (23), steals (15) and turnovers (16).
- UNH's starting frontcourt of Camara and Leissner combined for 31 points on 10-for-13 FGs (76.9%) and 11-12 FTs (91.7%), as well as 18 rebounds; both played 12 minutes.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Leissner inched closer to No. 2 on UNH's career points leaderboard. He is currently No. 3 with 1,587 points and Robin Dixon (1979-83) finished with 1,590 career points.
- Leissner extended his school benchmark for career free throws made to 427.
- In addition to matching his career high of 11 rebounds, Armstrong had a personal-best three steals.
- Reed finished with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting from 3-point range; he has made four 3's in a game three times this season. He also had a season-high seven assists and two steals in 21 minutes.
- Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) tallied 11 points and a career-high five rebounds.
- Elijah Jordan (Orlando, Fla.) tallied six points, three rebounds and six assists in 21 minutes; the six assists is his second-highest total of the season.
