Gill, Women's Nordic Wins Propel Wildcats to Second at UVM Carnival

STOWE, Vt. – Lizzie Gill (Bozeman, Mont.) notched the University of New Hampshire women's Nordic ski team's second individual victory in as many days and headlined a trio of Wildcat Top-5 finishers in a team triumph at Saturday's 10K classic at Trapp Family Lodge to guide the Wildcats to a second place overall finish at the Vermont Winter Carnival.
Gill, Katrin Larusson (Truckee, Calif./third place) and Silje Wilson (Hamar, Norway/fourth place), who won Friday's freestyle sprint, combined for 135 points to help the 'Cats edge Dartmouth (123).
Peter Holmes (Truckee, Calif.) collected a second-place finish in the men's 10K classic for his second Top-5 result of the weekend.
At Mount Mansfield, Chris Steinke (Ottawa, Ontario/second place) and Tõnis Luik (Tallinn, Estonia/seventh place) each registered a Top-10 finish in the men's slalom to headline UNH's alpine efforts.

What's Next
Week 4 of the EISA season finds the Wildcats competing at the Dartmouth Carnival (Feb. 10-11). Alpine races take place at Dartmouth Skiway with Nordic events scheduled for the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Friday's schedule features giant slalom and the 3x5K freestyle relay races. On Saturday, alpine switches to slalom while Nordic action contains the men's 10K classic and women's 5K classic.
NCAA Championships, Hosted by UNH
The University of New Hampshire will serve as the host school for the 2017 NCAA Skiing Championships (March 8-11) at Jackson Ski Touring Center (Nordic) and Cannon Mountain (Alpine). For more information on the UNH ski team, visit www.unhwildcats.com.
