DURHAM, N.H.-- Redshirt freshman defensive back Czar Wiley (North Bergen, N.J.) was named the Atlantic 10 Football Conference's Rookie of the Week after compiling a career-high 13 tackles in the Wildcats' impressive 38-28 victory over the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 2.
Wiley, who had compiled only eight tackles in the previous four games played, now has 21 for the season, which is seventh best on the squad. In addition, 10 of his 13 total tackles were made unassisted, and he finished the day with two tackles for a loss of 2 yards.
Wiley, a graduate of North Bergen High School, played for the 1997 Group 4 State Championship squad, competed in the North/South game, and played in the New Jersey/New York Governors' Bowl. He was also all-conference, all-league and all-state in 1997, while also being named the 1997 "Hudson Reporter Athlete of the Year".
The UNH Wildcats are now 2-3 overall and are off this week, before returning to action on Sat., Oct. 16 at Northeastern University.
