DURHAM, N.H.-The offense scored 54 points and sophomore tailback Ime Ekong (Regina, Sask.) recorded three touchdowns and had 184 yards of offense in the University of New Hampshire football team's annual Blue/White Fall Scrimmage at Cowell Stadium on Aug. 24.

The offense compiled a grand total 856 yards of total offense with 370 on the ground and 486 via the air in nearly four quarters of action.

Ekong recorded 92 yards on 22 carries and also was outstanding as a receiver, recording eight catches for 92 yards. His three touchdowns consisted of a 27-yard rush, and receptions of 3 and 35 yards.

Looking at the quarterbacks, junior Ryan Day (Manchester, N.H.) completed 9x14 attempts for 174 yards and two touchdowns in limited action. Also playing well for the 'Cats was sophomore Mike Hurley (Walpole, Mass.) who completed 23x35 for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

The receivers were kept busy, led by Ekong and senior wide receiver Kamau Peterson (Windsor, Ont.) who recorded four catches for 85 yards with a long of 43 yards for a touchdown.

Freshmen also played a major role in the scoring. R.J. Lindquist (Linwood, N.J.) made five catches for 83 yards and rushed seven times for 93, including a 73 yard touchdown run. Another freshman who scored for the 'Cats was tight end Christian Leibl-Cote (Beaconsfield, Que.) who caught two passes for 22 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown reception.

Also scoring was sophomore tight end Kane Anderson (Bomeseen, Vt.) who caught a 29-yard touchdown pass and was 4x55 as a receiver.

Freshman linebacker Amir Saadah (Fairlawn, N.J.) recorded two interceptions for the defense. Other top contributors on "D" included redshirt freshman defensive lineman Kern Mojica (Hastings, N.Y.) with a team-high eight total tackles and two sacks. Also recording two sacks was junior defensive lineman Manny Ortiz (New Bedford, Mass.).
