DURHAM, N.H.-- A memorial for former University of New Hampshire head football coach Clarence E. "Chief" Boston will be held on June 29 at the Durham Community Church on Main Street in downtown Durham. The memorial will begin at 11 a.m.
Boston, who passed away on May 4 following a long battle with Cancer, was hired at UNH in 1949 by Athletic Director Carl Lundholm. He coached at UNH until 1964 and posted a record of 60-57-10 as the mentor of the Wildcats.
Boston led the team to Yankee Conference titles in 1953, 1954, and 1962. For his outstanding efforts in 1962, the American Football Coaches Association named him Coach of the Year.
"Chief" was inducted into the UNH 100 Club Hall of Fame in 1995.
