DURHAM, N.H.-- Senior offensive center Jason Ball (Londonderry, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 64th annual Blue/Gray All-Star Football Classic on Dec. 25 in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and the game will be shown nationally on ABC-TV (WMUR, Channel 9).
Ball, who was one of four captains on the Wildcat football squad this past season, is a strong candidate for All-America honors and has been named both first-team All-Atlantic 10 and first-team All-New England for his outstanding efforts this past season. A leader on the offensive line, Ball helped the Wildcat offense compile an impressive average of 449.2 yards per game during the 2001 campaign.
"It's great for Jason to be recognized as one of the top centers in the nation," said UNH head football coach Sean McDonnell. "He has worked very hard to earn this opportunity to showcase his talents at the Blue/Gray Classic. It will be a great experience for him due to the large number of NFL scouts that will be able to see what he can do in terms of his impressive size and speed."
The game attracts over 300 pro scouts to practices, according to the game's web site.
Ball will attend Blue/Gray practices starting on Thursday, Dec. 20th in Montgomery. Rosters for the teams will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
