University of California At Davis Added To Slate

DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire has completed its 2005 football schedule with the addition of a contest vs. the University of California At Davis on Sept. 3. That game replaces the matchup at I-A Army, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 3, but was removed due to a schedule change by Army.

UC Davis finished 6-4 overall in 2005 and posted their 35th consecutive winning season. The program is in the third year of a four-year reclassification from Division II to Division I-AA status.

The Wildcats, who advanced all the way to the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals last season and won the Northern Division of the Atlantic 10 Football Conference, will play six games at home and five on the road in 2005.

Following the game at UC Davis and a week off on Sept. 10, the Wildcats open the Atlantic 10 slate with a contest at Towson University on Sept. 17.

The first home game will feature the annual bragging rights to New Hampshire as the Wildcats and Dartmouth battle in the Granite Bowl on Sept. 24 at Cowell Stadium.

Three of the next four games will then be played at home starting with Villanova on Oct. 1, followed by a challenging road trip to William & Mary on Oct. 8.

The annual Homecoming contest this year will feature Rhode Island on Oct. 15 followed the next week by a home game on Family Weekend vs. Northeastern on Oct. 22.

UNH will play two straight road contests vs. Massachusetts on Oct. 29 and Hofstra on Nov. 5, and then the team will finish up the regular season slate at home on Nov. 12 vs. Iona and Nov. 19 vs. Maine in the traditional battle for the musket.
