DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire football team was ranked 19th in the nation this week according to The Sports Network I-AA Top 25 poll released this afternoon.
UNH, which was unranked with nine points in the preseason poll, stunned No. 1 Delaware on Sept. 2 by a 24-21 margin and is making its first appearance in a national poll since being ranked 20th in The Sports Network Poll on Sept. 24, 2001.
In all, the Atlantic 10 Football Conference boasts a total of six teams in the top 25, more than any other conference in I-AA football.
The Wildcats are 1-0 headed into a matchup at Division I-A Rutgers, a team fresh off a huge 19-14 victory over Michigan State. Game time is 7 p.m. at the 42,000 seat Rutgers Stadium. The game can be heard live on the UNH Sports Network and will be carried on a tape-delayed basis on Fox Sports New York starting at 11:30 p.m.
