PHILADELPHIA, PA.— Junior quarterback Ricky Santos (Bellingham, Mass.) was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday, Oct. 1 for his outstanding efforts in UNH’s thrilling 52-49 victory at Delaware on Sept. 30. Santos completed 21-of-30 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns and added a game-high 110 rushing yards and two scores. He had touchdown passes of 28 yards to freshman RB Chad Kackert, 11 yards to senior wideout Aaron Brown and 13 yards to junior RB Chris Ward and had scoring runs of one and nine yards. It marked his fourth career 100-yard rushing performance and the junior has not thrown an interception in 102 pass attempts this season. He also became the program’s all-time passing yardage leader with 8,008 in 30 games, surpassing the previous mark of 7,742, held by Bob Jean (1985-88). It was his second A-10 Offensive Player of the Week citation of the season and ninth of his career. Santos and his high-scoring offense is now 21 of 21 in the red zone this season and is averaging 50.1 ppg. in four games played. The Wildcats are also averaging an amazing 488.8 ypg. and both are the top marks in all of I-AA football. Santos and his teammates will return to action this weekend when the squad entertains Richmond, a squad ranked No. 7 in last week’s poll.
