DOVER, N.H.--A radio feature focusing on UNH football player David Ball was given the Merit Award for achievement at the recent New Hampshire Association of Broadcaster’s Award’s Ceremony.
The feature, produced by WTSN-AM (1270), Dover, aired in November of 2005 during WTSN’s broadcasts of UNH sports. The three-minute documentary highlighted Ball’s exploits as both a UNH football player and his other skills as an athlete. WTSN sports director Andy Schachat, the host of weekly UNH sports shows heard on WTSN, wrote and narrated the feature and it was co-produced by Schachat and WTSN newscaster Pat Kelly.
The feature on David Ball was the second award-winning WTSN feature on a UNH athlete. In 2004, WTSN won an Associated Press award for a feature on UNH’s Craig Lange, a track and field athlete who competed in the America East Championship despite a severely injured hamstring.
