FOUR FOOTBALL PLAYERS NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-NEW ENGLAND

DURHAM, N.H.-- Four University of New Hampshire football players have been named to the New England Football Writers' Football Championship Subdivision All-Star Team in an announcement by Northeastern Associate Athletic Director Jack Grinold.

On the defensive side of the football, senior linebacker Sean Ware (Bristol Conn.) finished the season ranked second on the team in tackles (47-50-97), while he also recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks for a loss of 19 yards, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble for the Wildcats.

Also recognized on the UNH defense was senior safety Terrence Klein (Westwood, N.J.) who led UNH in interceptions with six this season. He was right behind Ware in tackles in 2009 with 80 total take-downs, good for third overall on the squad. He also broke up five passes and forced a fumble.

On the offensive side of the football, senior center Tom Neill (Syracuse, N.Y.) was recognized for his efforts as captain and leader of the offensive line. The UNH offense scored an average of 31.8 ppg. with him on the line and compiled 340.4 yards per game in 2009.

Also recognized for his offensive efforts this season was senior All-American tight end Scott Sicko (Stillwater, N.Y.). Sicko, who led all UNH receivers with 57 catches for 725 yards, grabbed a career-best nine touchdown catches this season and averaged 55.8 yards per game and 12.7 yards per catch for the Wildcats.

UNH finished the season with a 10-3 overall record, won the CAA North Division Title for the second year in a row, and advanced to the NCAA Division I Championship quarterfinals for the fifth time in six straight NCAA playoff appearances.
