EVANS NAMED CAA FOOTBALL PLAYER OF WEEK FOR 2ND STRAIGHT WEEK
RICHMOND, Va. – University of New Hampshire middle
linebacker Matt Evans (Hanover, Mass.) was named
the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, making it
back-to-back weeks the sophomore has been feted for the honor and
the third straight week a Wildcat player has been recognized as the
league's top defensive performer.
Evans, the CAA's leader in overall tackles (93) and solo stops (47), was named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18 on the heels of the Wildcats' 28-17 victory at then-No. 6 James Madison. That week he returned a fumble 17 yards for a touchdown, compiled a career-high-tying 14 tackles and forced a fumble.
UNH safety John Greer was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 11 after notching two interceptions, including a 40-yard pick-six, in the Wildcats' 17-0 shutout of then-11th-ranked Richmond at Cowell Stadium.
