Orlando Garners College Sporting News All-Star Football Honor

CHICAGO – University of New Hampshire junior wide receiver Joey Orlando (Bethlehem, Pa.) has been selected as a College Sporting News All-Star for the week ending Sept. 11 in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision.

Orlando, who was also named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week and the CFPA National Punt Return Performer of the Week on Monday, scored a career-high three touchdowns in the Wildcats' 48-41 overtime victory at Lehigh last Saturday. Playing in his hometown, Orlando nabbed the 25-yard game-winning reception on the first play of overtime, amassed a personal-best 166 receiving yards on 10 catches, which matched a career high, registered a 17-yard TD reception in the second quarter that put him over the 1,000-yard receiving mark for his career and returned a punt 56 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. It was the first punt return for a score by a Wildcat since now-Chicago Bear Corey Graham's 51-yarder against Stony Brook on Sept. 16, 2006.

Through two games, Orlando leads the CAA in catches (16), receptions per game (8.0), receiving yards per game (107.5) and is tied for second in scoring (9.0 points per game). Nationally, he is ranked eighth in receptions per game and 15th in receiving yards per game.

No.11/12 UNH has a bye this week before challenging No. 6/9 Richmond at Robins Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 3:30 p.m. UNH's first home game at Cowell Stadium is slated for Saturday, Oct. 1, against Holy Cross at 12 p.m. For tickets, visit www.unhwildcats.com or call (603) 862-4000, x 5.
