BURLINGTON, VT.-Senior Kristin Iarrusso (Southwick, Mass.) and freshman Marcie Boyer (Dillsburg, Pa.) tallied two goal each in the first half as the University of New Hampshire field hockey team shut out the University of Vermont 4-0 Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats improve to 9-5-0 and 4-1-0 in the AMERICA EAST Conference and Vermont falls to 1-11-0 and 0-4-0 in conference play.
Iarrusso put the Wildcats on the board with under three minutes into the first half off an assist from juniors Jessica Russell (Harrisville, R.I.) and Kelly Stowe (Topsfield, Mass.) for a 1-0 lead. Boyer scored her two goals less than three minutes apart to grab a 3-0 lead. Iarrusso scored her second goal of the game with over 11 minutes to close out the scoring 4-0.
The two teams played through a scoreless second half as Wildcat junior keeper Amy Agulay (London, Ont.) made five saves and Catamount goaltender Holly Colberg stopped seven shots.
Agulay tallied nine saves on the day, while Colberg registered 11 stops.
The Wildcats return home Wednesday to face off against Massachusetts at 3:30 p.m.
