New Hampshire field hockey falls to No. 8 Connecticut, 2-0

STORRS, Conn. - The University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated by eighth-ranked University of Connecticut, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.

UNH is now 2-4 on the season with all four setbacks to teams ranked in the top 12 in the nation. UConn improved to 5-1.

New Hampshire was outshot 14-3 in the game but remained close behind another strong effort by goalkeeper Amy Agulay (London, Ontario), who made 11 saves.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead on a Colleen Burke goal with 19 minutes remaining in the first half. The lead expanded to 2-0 on Laura Klein's tally 5:30 into the second half.

UConn goalkeeper Alana Linick recorded two saves.

New Hampshire returns to action Sept. 17 (1 p.m.) at the University of Rhode Island. The home opener is Sept. 22 vs. Drexel at 3:30 p.m.
