New Hampshire field hockey bested by Drexel, 4-3, in 2OT

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel University's Pamie Zukowski scored at 8:16 of the second overtime session to give the Dragons a 4-3 America East victory against the University of New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

UNH is now 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference while Drexel is 4-6, 1-1.

Drexel took a 1-0 lead at 21:25 of the first half on a goal by Kristina Backenstose. The Wildcats rallied to tie the game on a Cameron Schmitz (Cos Cob, Conn.) tally at 3:40. The Dragons netted two late goals - by Julie Gahman at 2:11 and Caliann Bogovic at :33 - to take a 3-1 halftime lead.

New Hampshire's strong play early in the second half tied the game, 3-3. Kristen Weldon (Avon, Conn.) scored her team-high seventh goal of the year to pull the 'Cats within 3-2 at 23:02 and Marcie Boyer (Dillsburg, Pa.) knotted the game 2:11 later.

UNH goalkeeper Julie Munson (Dover, N.H.) finished with 12 saves, including two in the overtime sessions. Drexel's Meg Barrow stopped 11 shots, including one in the second extra session.

New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 5 against Northeastern. Game time at Memorial Field is 4 p.m.
