UNH field hockey defeated by No. 4 Old Dominion, 8-0

STORRS, Conn. - Julie Miracle scored three goals to lead the fourth-ranked Old Dominion University field hockey team to Sunday afternoon's 8-0 victory against the University of New Hampshire at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex, located at the University of Connecticut.

UNH (5-8) was limited to two shots - one each half by Jennie Peyser (Rye, NH.) - and ODU's Marybeth Freeman turned aside both attempts to record the shutout.

Old Dominion led 4-0 at the half as tallies by Miracle at 27:50 and 1:10 surrounded scores fromAdrienne Yoder (18:12) and Lotte Bant (12:05). The Lady Monarchs recorded 18 shots over the opening 35 minutes at UNH goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) stopped 10 shots.

Miracle's third goal of the game extended the advantage to 5-0 at 29:20 of the second half. Tiffany Snow scored five minutes later to create a six-goal cushion. Tara Herrmann, who also set up Bant's tally, finished the scoring with goals at 16:30 and 11:18.

Julie Munson (Dover, N.H.) entered at the outset of the second half. She stopped three shots and surrendered two goals before Buckley reentered the game for the final 17:41. Buckley made seven saves in that time span to finish with a career-high 17 saves.

New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 12 (4 p.m.) at Dartmouth. UNH's next home game is the regular-season finale vs. Maine on Oct. 27 (1 p.m.).
