New Hampshire field hockey upends Albany, 3-1

ALBANY, N.Y. - Lizzy Duffy (Oak Park, Ill.) broke a 1-1 tie at 18:56 of the second half and it proved to be the game-winning goal in the University of New Hampshire's 3-1 victory against the University at Albany in Sunday afternoon's America East field hockey action at Albany Field.

UNH, which also received a goal and assist from Tami Street (Kingston, N.Y.), improved to 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the conference. Albany is now 5-11, 2-6.

New Hamsphire, which dominated the first half, broke through for a 1-0 lead on Street's goal at 1:20. She scored by redirecting a long hit by Samantha Carr (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) from the middle of the circle into the cage.

Albany tied the game, 1-1, on an unassisted goal by Alexis Johnson at 20:40 of the second half.

UNH regained the lead, 2-1, 1:44 later when Duffy scored on a rebound from a Street shot. The 'Cats increased their advantage to two goals at 5:57 when Heidi Anderson (Hampton Falls, N.H.) redirected a crossing pass from Duffy.

UNH goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) made nine saves. Albany's Megan Akstin turned aside 15 UNH shots.

New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 24 (7:30 p.m.) against Boston University. The game will be played at Harvard University's Jordan Field. UNH's next home game is the regular-season finale vs. Maine on Oct. 27 (1 p.m.).
