New Hampshire field hockey keeps Mooney in-state

DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire field hockey head coach Robin Balducci announced Thursday that Granite State native Jen Mooney (Manchester, N.H.) has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University to join the Wildcat field hockey program in the 2004 season.

"We will be looking for Jen to come here and make an immediate impact in our program," stated Balducci, UNH's winningest coach who has guided the 'Cats to 11 postseason appearances in 13 seasons. "She has tremendous speed and athleticism, and she fits well into the UNH mold as a tough kid and hard worker."

Mooney, who also letters in track at Manchester West High School, was named the Most Outstanding Athlete at Manchester West in both 2003 and 2002. She was named to the field hockey All-State First Team as a forward and was also named to the Twin State Team in 2003. Last year in track, Mooney was a four-time state champion as she won the 100-meter and 200m outdoor track titles as well as the 55m and 300m indoor track titles.
