New Hampshire field hockey upended by Duke, 11-0

DURHAM, N.C. -- Katie Grant recorded four goals and added an assist and Nicole Dudek scored three goals to lead the Duke University field hockey team to Saturday afternoon's 11-0 non-conference win against New Hampshire at Williams Field.

UNH is 0-2 on the season while Duke is 2-1.

Duke started the scoring 14:26 into the contest when Dudek scored off a penalty corner with Grant and Cara-Lynn Lopresti assisting. Less than a minute later, Grant collected her first goal off a crossing pass from Johanna Bischof for a 2-0 Blue Devil lead.

Chrissie Murphy extended the advantage to 3-0 at 19:57. Grant scored with 5:37 remaining in the half and Stopford added an unassisted goal just 12 seconds later to give Duke a 5-0 advantage.

Grant completed the hat trick at 40:07 with an unassisted goal. The Blue Devils erupted for four goals in just over six minutes to give Duke a 10-0 lead. Liz Floyd scored with no time remaining to end the scoring.

Duke outshot visiting New Hampshire, 26-3, and also held a 10-3 advantage in penalty corner opportunities. Christy Morgan was credited with the shutout for Duke, while the Wildcats got four saves in goal from both Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) and Margaux Shute (Norridgewock, Maine). Buckley surrendered nine goals and was credited with four saves and surrendered nine goals in 46 minutes, 52 seconds. Shute also made four saves and allowed two goals in 23:08.

New Hampshire returns to action Sept. 6 vs. Towson University at Duke's Williams Field. The next Wildcat home game is Sept. 9 vs. Harvard. Game time at Memorial Field is 3:30 p.m.
