New Hampshire field hockey falls to No. 11 UConn, 8-0

STORRS, Conn. -- Kristin Galuski scored three goals to propel the 11th-ranked University of Connecticut field hockey team to Wednesday night's 8-0 non-conference victory against the University of New Hampshire at Sherman Complex.

UNH has now alternated wins and losses through seven games to compile a 3-4 record. UConn is now 5-1.

Galuski opened the scoring at 4:28 and Kati Cavanagh scored 10 minutes later to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Lizzy Peijs and Rebecca Helwig scored goals 2:33 apart to extend the advantage to 4-0. Galuski struck twice more in the first half, including one on an untimed penalty corner, to give the Huskies a six-goal cushion.

UNH goalkeeper Margaux Shute (Norridgewock, Maine) was credited with 11 saves. UConn starting goalie Melissa Bostwick earned the victory with one save in 55:42 of action. Brian Koza went the rest of the way and did not record a save.

New Hampshire has a pair of home games this weekend. The Wildcats play host to Massachusetts on Sept. 17 and Holy Cross on the 18th. Both games at Memorial Field begin at 1 p.m.
