SHEA IS SELECTED TO COMPETE IN FIELD HOCKEY SR. ALL-STAR GAME
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Meg
Shea (Melrose, Mass.), a senior forward on the University
of New Hampshire field hockey team, has been selected to
participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association
Division I Senior All-Star Game, the NFHCA announced Wednesday.
The 2009 All-Star Game will be held Nov. 21 (5:30 p.m.) at Wake
Forest University. This year’s game will consist of four
25-minute sessions and will include competition against the U.S.
Women’s National Team.
Shea has tallied a point in all 15 games this season to compile 19
goals and six assists for 44 points. She currently ranks fifth in
the nation in both goals per game and points per game and leads the
America East conference in five statistics. Shea, who has
goal-scoring streaks of seven and five games this year, is also the
leader in shots (50) and shooting percentage (.380).
Shea’s season highlights included a three-goal effort at
Dartmouth College (Oct.7) that tied her career highs in both goals
and points (six). She also had two-goal efforts against Brown
University, Providence College, Penn and Maine.
Shea has been named America East Player of the Week by America East
each of the past two weeks and three times overall in the ’09
season. She was also named to the Sheraton Catamount Field Hockey
Classic in September.
Shea and her UNH teammates return to action Oct. 24 at home against
Fairfield University. Game time for the Senior Day game is 1 p.m.
