FIELD HOCKEY'S POHLMEYER TABBED AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Casey Pohlmeyer (Millersville, Md.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Pohlmeyer started both games against Lock Haven University and the University of Delaware in last weekend's Wildcat Invitational; Megan Bozek (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) was the only other UNH rookie to start each game. Pohlmeyer's strong midfield play helped UNH control the tempo and possession in victories against LHU (3-1) and Delaware (2-1) en route to winning the tournament title. Pohlmeyer was selected to the All-Wildcat Invitational Team in recognition of her contributions.
New Hampshire returns to action this weekend for home games against Bryant University (Sept. 3, 7 p.m.) and Providence College (Sept. 5, 1 p.m.).
