AMHERST, Mass.--The University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics team remained undefeated Saturday as it defeated the University of Massachusetts by a score of 192.925-191.950. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall and the Minutewomen fall to 3-1 overall.
The Wildcats, ranked eighth nationally, took two of the four events and was led by junior Suzanne Poretz (Alexandria, Va.) who scored a 38.850 in the all-around.
Sophomore Bethany Wagner (Bound Brook, N.J.) placed first overall on the vault with a score of 9.650.
On the uneven bars, the Wildcats took second, third and fourth places and was led by a 9.850 by senior Cara Lepper (Southington, Conn.). Poretz and fellow junior Wendy Wheaton (Rockville, Md.) finished with a 9.825 and a 9.800 respectively.
Poretz was the high scorer on the beam for the ‘Cats with a 9.800.
UNH was led by junior Rose Kosowski (Whitesboro, N.Y.) on the floor exercise with a 9.850. Wheaton scored a 9.800 and freshman Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) checked in with a 9.825.
The Wildcats host the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday at 7 p.m.
