DURHAM, N.H.- The University of New Hampshire women's gymnastics team edged out Michigan State, in the four team Fox Run Invitational on Saturday, February 17th at the Whittemore Center, before a crowd of 1,447 fans. The final tally was UNH with a score of 194.950, Michigan State 194.900, Northern Illinois University posted a 189.050, and Texas Women's University scored a 189.00. With the wins the 'Cats record improves to 11-2.
After the first rotation, the Wildcats held first-place with a 48.750 in the vault competition, which set an all-time single meet school record in that event. Senior Suzanne Poretz (Alexandria, Va.) led UNH in the all-around competition with a score of 39.225. Poretz also placed first in the floor exercise, with a personal best of a 9.825, and second overall on the uneven bars with a personal best of 9.850.
Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) led the team on the vault with a 9.775. Crystal Beak (DeWitt, N.Y.) placed first in the overall balance beam, with a personal best of 9.825.
UNH will return to action Friday, February 23rd when they host the University of Vermont at 7pm in Lundholm Gymnasium.
