DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire gymnastics team will host the annual Fox Run Invitational on Saturday, February 2 at the Whittemore Center. The Wildcats will be competing against Cornell and Temple. Meet time is 7 p.m.
UNH, which captured its' first two meets this season before falling to nationally-ranked Kentucky last Friday, is led in the all-around by junior Jen Dickson (Salisbury, Md.). Dickson, the 2001 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Rookie of the Year, has led New Hampshire in the all-around in all three meets this season, recording a high of 38.825 against Rhode Island.
Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) and Bethany Wagner (Bound Brook, N.J.) have also been strong all-arounders for the 'Cats. Harley, the 2000 EAGL Rookie of the Year, posted a season-high of 38.450 at Kentucky, while Wagner, competing in the all-around for the first time in her career, posted a 38.800 in her first-ever all-around performance against URI.
UNH has captured the Fox Run Invitational eight times in the 17-year history of the event, including the last two years. Last season UNH posted a thrilling 194.950-194.900 win over Michigan State, the closest margin of victory in meet history.
Temple has been to the Fox Run Invitational twice, in 1993 and 1997, while Cornell is making its' first Invitational appearance.
Other champions of the Fox Run Invitational include Auburn (1990), Michigan State (1988, 1989, 1995, 1998), Missouri (1987), Northern Illinois (1993), Towson (1992) and West Virginia (1997).
