TOWSON, Md. - Junior Tara Phillips (Spring, Texas) of the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team was named the first-ever recipient of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week award. The award, instituted this season, is given to a gymnast who competes and excels in fewer than three events in a meet.

Competing on vault and bars in the home opener against Rutgers, Yale and Brown, Phillips placed second in each event. She had a 9.80 on vault and a 9.75 on bars. The Wildcats swept the quad meet, as their 193.900 team score topped Rutgers (190.850), Yale (188.200) and Brown (184.600).

UNH returns to action Saturday, January 18, when the 'Cats travel to Penn State for a dual meet with the Nittany Lions at 7:00 p.m. The next New Hampshire home meet is Saturday, February 15, when UNH hosts Bowling Green, George Washington and Michigan State in the annual Fox Run Invitational at the Whittemore Center. That meet is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
