DURHAM, N.H. --- The University of New Hampshire women's gymnastics team will play host to its 20th annual Fox Run Invitational on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Whittemore Center Arena. Coming off of what head coach Gail Goodspeed called "our best meet of the year," the Wildcats (5-3) are eager to continue with their already successful start to the season.
Playing host to top-notch competitors Michigan (10-1), Michigan State (10-4), and Northern Illinois (2-2), the 'Cats will have to put together strong performances in order to upset these visitors. Leading the team to action are co-captains Vanessa Berrios (Long Pond, Pa.) and Vanessa James (Malden, Mass.). The duo will look for strong performances from two-time EAGL honorees Amanda Hall (Bremerton, Wash.) and Rebekah Porter (Valparaiso, Ind.).
In their previous 19 years as the host team, the Wildcats have earned the Fox Run title nine times. Michigan State has won the meet four times and Northern Illinois has been victorious once as well. Last year, the 'Cats placed second out of four teams with a score of 195.2, losing only to Auburn University and posting enough points to beat out Yale and Temple.
The event will cost $7 for adults, and $3 for seniors or anyone under the age of 18. Group ticket prices (for 20 or more) are all $3 per person. UNH students can attend the meet for free with a valid student ID.
