DURHAM, N.H. - Former University of New Hampshire men's basketball pivot-man Rob Marquardt (Northport, N.Y.) was recently drafted by the Brooklyn Kings of the United States Basketball League. Selected 40th overall in the April 10th USBL draft, Marquardt ended his four-year collegiate career this season with the Wildcats as the all-time career leader in blocks at UNH with 125.
After a slow start this last season, Marquardt came on strong in the second half to post 4.8 ppg., 3.3 rpg. and 1.2 bpg. The 6-11 center also holds the school record for blocks in a season with 52 as a junior.
The Brooklyn King franchise finished 5th in the league last season with a record of 11-19. The Kings 30-game regular season schedule begins April 28 against Pennsylvania.
