VETRANO REPEATS AS AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

BOSTON - For the second time in as many weeks, freshman point guard Chris Vetrano (Andover, Mass.) has been honored by the America East Conference, as he was named the co-Rookie of the Week for men's basketball by the conference office.

This time Vetrano was honored for his performances against Boston College and Army last week. He averaged 15.5 points, five rebounds, and three assists per game as the Wildcats went 1-1 during the week.

In front of many friends and family members at Conte Forum, Vetrano led the Wildcats with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against regional power Boston College. He followed that with a 15-point effort in UNH's 77-71 victory over Army on Sunday.

Vetrano shares the rookie award this week with Shawn James of Northeastern, who made a big debut against Harvard on Saturday. James scored 18 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and set a school record with seven blocked shots in 28 minutes of action.

Vetrano is the first player to repeat as America East Rookie of the Week since Jon Iati of Albany accomplished the feat on February 1 and 8 of last season. The last time a Wildcat won back-to-back conference Rookie of the Week honors was Marcelle Williams on January 2 and 9, 2000.

New Hampshire (3-1) returns to action Wednesday night, December 1, against the Harvard Crimson. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Lundholm Gymnasium.
