The Wildcats finished the 2006 regular season with an 11-16 overall record and the squad was 8-8 vs. conference opponents this season. UNH played the Hawks twice, defeating Hartford at Lundholm Gymnasium by a 77-69 score on Jan. 8, but losing in Hartford, 69-56, on Feb. 19.
Hartford completed the 2005-06 season with a 13-14 overall mark and the team was 9-7 vs. America East opponents.
Should UNH defeat Hartford, the Wildcats would move on to play the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 1 Albany and the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 8 UMBC and No. 9 Stony Brook in the semifinals on Sun., March 5. That semifinal contest is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be produced live by America East TV.
The America East Championship game will be played on Sat., March 11 at the home court of the highest remaining seed. That game will take place at 12 p.m. and will be shown live on ESPN 2.
In the other quarterfinal bracket, No. 2 Binghamton will battle No. 7 Maine at 12 p.m. on March 4,and No. 3 Boston University will take on No. 6 Vermont at 2:30 p.m.
