MEN'S BASKETBALL SET TO TAKE ON BINGHAMTON
Scouting the Wildcats (6-12, 2-3 AE)
The Wildcats defeated intrastate rival Dartmouth College on January 16 by a score of 65-61. Jermaine Anderson posted 21 points, including a 7-of-7 performance from the charity stripe in the last 36 seconds of play. Senior Blagoj Janev notched 15 points and six rebounds, while freshman forward Radar Onguetou just missed his first career double-double (nine points, 11 rebounds). New Hampshire has won five of its last nine games.. UNH sophomore Tyrece Gibbs notched a career-high 21 points to propel the Wildcats past the University of Hartford, 72-59, to garner their first victory of the season at Lundholm Gymnasium on January 11... Senior co-captain Jermaine Anderson delivered 10 first half points en route to scoring 15 on the night, including seven points at the charity stripe... UNH freshman forward Dan McGeary posted a solid outing by chipping in 13 points and a career-high six assists off the bench... Senior co-captain Blagoj Janev  added nine points and six rebounds, while junior forward Brandon Odom started his first game of the season and posted seven points and three rebounds in the win... UNH shot a season-high 52 percent from the floor and also shot a season- high 14 three-pointers, shooting at a 48.3 percent clip before falling to Vermont 62-60 on January 9... Janev posted a career-high 31 points as he registered 11-of-11 from the field, while hitting 5-of-5 from the three-point land... Jermaine Anderson notched 12 points in the loss... UNH rounded out the week with a tough 53-29 loss to the Boston University Terriers... The last time UNH scored under 30 points came in a contest against Providence College during the 1991-1992 campaign when the Wildcats compiled just 27 points... Janev and Anderson both posted five points apiece in the loss.

Scouting the Bearcats (9-9, 2-4 AE)
    Junior guard Mike Gordon converted a high-bank layup with one tenth of a second left to give visiting Binghamton  a 57-55 victory over Hartford in a men’s basketball game Monday night from Chase Family Arena. Remarkably, Gordon’s final-second heroics were an exact repeat of last January 19, when his buzzer-beating layup stunned the Hawks by the same score on the same court. Forbes led Binghamton with 12 points. Senior guard Steve Proctor  and Gordon added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman forward Lazar Trifunovic added nine rebounds and six points.
    Binghamton dropped all three games the previous week. and has now lost five of its last seven games after toppling Miami on December 20... After averaging more than 73 ppg during a seven-game stretch, the Bearcats have been held to 56 ppg in their last three - all losses... During the week, Binghamton’s guards shot just 33 percent from the floor, including 25 percent from beyond the arc (17-for-67)... As a team, the Bearcats converted just 55 percent from the free throw line... Freshman forward Lazar Trifunovic averaged 7.0 rpg during the week and stands sixth in the conference for the season... Binghamton still has four players averaging double-figure points and is scoring 69.3 ppg... Despite having students on campus for only three of eight home games, Binghamton still ranks second in the America East in attendance with a 2,926 average.


THE SERIES:   Binghamton holds a 7-3 all-time record when facing the New Hampshire Wildcats as the two programs meet for the 11th time. Binghamton swept a pair of games during the 2005-06 campaign. The Bearcats posted a 62-49 road win on January 5, 2006. Blagoj Janev tallied a team-high 12 points in the loss. Binghamton also came away with a 57-46 win on February 8, 2006. Junior forward Mike Christensen notched a team-high 14 points in the loss.


Captain Clutch
    Senior captain Jermaine Anderson recorded 21 points, including a clutch 7-of-7 from the charity stripe in the final 36 seconds of play to lift the Wildcats past intrastate rival Dartmouth College, 65-61, in non-conference action on January 16.


Three-Point Showdown
    UNH shot a season-high 7-of-13 (53.8%) from beyond the arc in a win over in-state rival Dartmouth College on January 16. The Wildcats and Binghamton earcats both lead lead the America East in three-point makes with 136. The Wildcats posted a season-high 14 treys from beyond the arc, shooting 14-of-29 (48.3%)  in a win over Hartford on January 11.


Charity Points
    Senior co-captain Jermaine Anderson is  42-of-49 (85.7%) from the charity stripe this season and is second in the America East.  During the 2005-06 campaign, Anderson shot 68-of-74 (91.9%) from the foul line, placing him second in all of Division 1 basketball.


 Janev Moves into UNH’S Top-10 All-Time Scoring Ranks
    Senior co-captain Blagoj Janev recorded 15 points in a 65-61 victory over in-state rival Dartmouth College on January 16. He has now compiled 1,189 career points, placing him 8th on UNH’s  all-time scoring list.

Theft Alert
    Senior Jermaine Anderson recently moved into eight place on UNH’s all-time steals list with 121, tying Robin Dixon’s (1979-83) record.

Fresh Starts
    The Wildcats have six freshmen this season in Dan McGeary (12 starts), Radar Onguetou (7 starts), Seth Price (9 starts), and Sam Herrick (2 starts). The six have combined to start 29 games throughout the first 18 games of the season.


             Career Week
    Four UNH starters all tallied career-highs in points this past week.  Junior forward Mike Christensen posted 28 points in a win over Maine. Senior Blagoj Janev delivered 31 points in a loss to Vermont. Sophomore guard Tyrece Gibbs notched 21 points and freshman forward Dan McGeary recorded 13 points en route to handing the University of Hartford to its first loss in conference play on January 11.


America East On The Rise
    With just three regular-season non-conference games remaining, America East squads have sailed past last year’s non-conference win total. America East teams are currently 49-61 (.440) in 2006-07, compared to just 33-69 (.324) a season ago. The conference is on pace to register 50 regular-season non-conference victories this campaign, which would be the most since the league recorded 52 in 1994-95 when there were also nine teams in the league.


Pack of ‘Cats Provide Scoring
    The Wildcats are one of three America East members to have three scorers averaging double digits. Senior Blagoj Janev  averages 13.9, while Jermaine Anderson (12.8 ppg) and Mike Christensen average 13.1 ppg respectively.


Anderson Delivers
    Senior Jermaine Anderson ranks fifth in the America East in assists with 51, averaging 3.65 per game. He is also one of two guards to crack in the top ten in the conference for blocks with nine.
