MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON TO BEGIN WITH “TIP-OFF CELEBRATION”

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's and women's basketball teams will kick off their 2010-11 seasons on Thursday, October 28 with the third annual "Tip-Off Celebration" served up by American Flatbread at Lundholm Gymnasium.  The event is free and is open to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will provide fans the opportunity to preview the 2010-11 teams and meet new Women's Basketball Head Coach Maureen Magarity will include free all-natural pizza slices for fans upon entry. In addition, 25 lucky fans will receive coupons for a free pizza, and discounted coupons will be available to all at the sampling booth.

The event will also feature the unveiling of Holy Rosary Credit Union's "Hoops for Hope" community-centered basketball promotion.  HRCU's "Hoops for Hope" will benefit the St. Charles Children's Home with a donation of $1.00 being made for every point scored by the men's basketball team throughout the season.

Additional event highlights will include one UNH student winning a semester's worth of free books in a huge knockout competition; every student in attendance will be entered to win.  Student-athletes will also compete in a slam-dunk contest, a 3-point shot-out and a Blue & White scrimmage by both teams. 

The UNH cheerleaders and dance teams will perform and the men's and women's teams will hold an autograph session at the conclusion of the event.  Free team posters will be distributed to fans. 

Fans will be able to purchase season tickets to both the men's and women's teams for $50 at this event, a $10 discount off the regular season ticket rate of $60.  This discounted rate will only be available at the "Tip-Off Celebration" event. 

American Flatbread is an official partner of Wildcat Sports and is partnering with the Wildcats to provide fans with samples and coupons for its New Hampshire-made products throughout the 2010-11 athletic seasons.  Look for American Flatbread at Wildcat Football on November 6, 2010 and at Wildcat Hockey on December 5, 2010 and January 2, 2011.
