DURHAM, N.H.--The University of New Hampshire Wildcats (18-4-5, 10-2-5) and Merrimack College Warriors (9-14-4, 4-9-4) battled to a 2-2 tie Friday night at the Whittemore Center.
It was the eighth time this season a game has went into overtime at the Whittemore Center tying a record for most home overtime games at New Hampshire.
Merrimack opened the scoring in the first period when Nick Cammarata found Ryan Kiley open in the slot, Kiley then beat New Hampshire goalie Ty Conklin for his third goal of the season. A minute later Darren Haydar tied the score for New Hapmshire, he scored with assist from linemates John Sadowski and Lanny Gare.
Merrimack regained the at 13:41 of the second period when Chris Halecki scored his fifth goal of the season, to give Merrimack a 2-1 lead. New Hampshire came back and tied the score at two when Jim Abbott scored a powerplay with a minute left in the second period.
In the third period Tom Welby stoped 6 shots for the Warriors, while Conklin made 6 saves for the Wildcats.
