DURHAM, N.H. — Junior defenseman Eric Lind (New Canaan, Conn.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts this past weekend.
Lind led the UNH defense which held its two opponents to just 38 shots. Merrimack was held to 17 shots Friday night and nationally ranked Maine was held to just 21 shots on Sunday. In addition, the Wildcats registered their second shutout of the season with the 1-0 victory against Maine.
Lind has played in all 28 games this season and has registered one goal and three assists for four points.
The Wildcats are currently ranked second in both the U.S. College Hockey Online and the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine. UNH is 19-4-5 overall and 11-2-5 in Hockey East. This weekend, the Wildcats play at Northeastern Friday night and at Providence Saturday night.
