DURHAM, N.H. —University of New Hampshire freshman forward Jim Abbott (Mars, Penn.) was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The 6-1, 185-pound Abbott registered a goal and two assists in two games this past weekend. In UNH’s 5-5 tie against Boston University, Abbott registered an assist and in UNH’s 2-1 win against Boston College, the freshman scored the game’s tying goal and assisted on the overtime game-winner.
So far this season, Abbott has registered three goals and two assists for five points in seven games.
Sophomore forward David Busch (Toronto, Ontario) earned a spot on the Hockey East Honor Roll this week for registering three goals on the weekend, including Saturday night’s game winner.
The Wildcats currently hold first-place in Hockey East with a 5-0-1 league mark and 8-2-1 record overall. UNH returns to action this weekend in the Diamond Anniversary Conference Classic. Saturday night the Wildcats face-off against Notre Dame and then play North Dakota Sunday. Both games are at the Whittemore Center Arena and begin at 5 p.m.
