DURHAM, N.H. —University of New Hampshire freshman forward Patrick Foley (Milton, Mass.) has been named to the U.S. Junior National Team that will compete at the 2000 IIHF World Junior Championships.
Foley, a 6-1, 200-pound winger, will travel with Team USA to Skelleftea and Umea, Sweeden from Dec. 25-Jan. 4 for the World Championships. The team, comprised of the top under-20 year-olds from across the nation, features 21 college players on the 22-man roster.
So far this season, Foley, 18, has played in 11 games for the Wildcats and has registered two goals and three assists for five points to go along with his physical style of play. Both of his goals this season have been game-winners in league play.
Prior to his arrival in Durham, Foley played for the U.S. Under 18 National Team last season after his prep school days at St. Sebastian’s. During his stint with the National Team, Foley registered 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 points in 81 games.
The Wildcats currently hold first-place in Hockey East with a 5-0-1 league mark and 10-2-1 mark overall. UNH plays against Lowell Friday night at the Whittemore Center and then travel to Lowell Saturday night.
