BOSTON - The Hockey East Association announced its men's hockey post season awards at the annual conference banquet, Thursday, March 13th at the Sonesta Hotel in Boston. The University of New Hampshire men's hockey program took home four individual awards, including junior goaltender Mike Ayers (Hingham, Mass.) earning Hockey East Co-Player of the Year honors.

Ayers, an All-Hockey East first-team selection, owns a 22-7-6 record on the year, and is ranked third nationally in GAA (2.23) and save percentage (.925). Ayers tied UNH's single-season shutout record, with five. In Hockey East play, Ayers has a 15-5-4 record with a 2.22 save percentage and a .926 save percentage. Ayers allowed two or fewer goals in 19 of 35 games and recorded 30 or more saves in 12 games.

Senior forwards Lanny Gare (Vernon, B.C.) and Colin Hemingway (Surrey, B.C.) were named to the Hockey East All-Star teams. Gare, a first-team selection, leads the Wildcats in points with 49 and goals with 22. He currently ranks 11th in the nation in points and 16th in the country in points per game (1.36). Gare also finished tied for third in the conference scoring race with 31 points.

Hemingway, a second-team selection, has registered 44 points on the year and is a Hockey East all-star for the second straight season. He currently ranks 20th in the nation at 1.29 points per game and his team-high 10 power play goals ranks 10th in Div. I hockey.

The No. 1 seeded UNH men's hockey team returns to action in the Hockey East semifinals on Friday, March 14th vs. the No. 6 seed University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Game time is 5 p.m. at the FleetCenter.
