Sophomore wing Preston Callander (Regina, Sask.) broke a 4-4 tie with 2:29 to play in regulation to give the top-seeded Wildcats the win. Sixth-seeded UMass had twice battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game. The win pushed third-ranked UNH to 24-7-6 on the season, while UMass fell to 19-17-10.

Head Coach Dick Umile also celebrated his 300th career win as the Wildcats defeated Boston College to improve to 21-7-6 overall, 15-5-4 in league play.




CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – New Hampshire’s Colin Hemingway used a last-minute goal at 19:18 of the third period to salvage a 3-3 tie with third-ranked Boston College, Friday night in front of 7,884 at Kelley Rink. With the tie, Boston College clinches a share of the HOCKEY EAST regular-season title.




Lowell, MA - Senior captain Ed McGrane (Hamilton, ONT) scored the eventual game-tying goal at 14:53 of the third period along with adding an assist as the UMass Lowell Hockey team tied #4 New Hampshire 4-4 Friday evening in front of 5,254 fans at the Tsongas Arena.




North Andover, MA - Colin Hemingway (Surrey, BC) and Jim Abbott (Mars, PA) each scored twice and Garrett Stafford (Los Angeles, CA) had three assists to lead No. 4 New Hampshire (20-7-4, 14-5-2) to a 6-1 win over Merrimack (12-14-5, 7-11-3). Patrick Foley (Milton, MA) and Nathan Martz (Chilliwack, BC) also scored for the Wildcats as they rolled to the Hockey East victory in front of 2,881 at the Volpe Center.




Senior Mike Ryan scored his 17th goal of the season, while classmate Mike Gilhooly stopped 30 shots in net, as Northeastern and sixth-ranked New Hampshire skated to a 1-1 tie after 65 minutes of Hockey East action at Matthews Arena.




DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team improved to 12-5-1 (19-7-3 overall) in Hockey East play as they defeated the Huskies of Northeastern University (4-14-1 HE, 9-18-2 overall) 4-3 on Friday night at the Whittemore Center Arena in front of a sellout crowd of 6,501. The win was the third consecutive victory for the Friars, who improved to 16-12-1 and 9-9-1 in Hockey East action. The Wildcats fell to 18-7-3 overall and 12-5-1 in league play.
