WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore forward Jacob Micflikier (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and freshman goaltender Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team were named Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month, respectively, for February by the Hockey East Association on Tuesday afternoon.
Micflikier posted 13 points (7g, 6a) , which included four point performances Feb. 11 vs. UMass and Feb. 16 vs. Merrimack, in the month of February in eight league contests. He scored a point in five of eight games in the month and notched a hat trick on Feb. 11th vs. Massachusetts. Micflikier finished the month with a +8 plus/minus rating.
Micflikier ranks tied for third on the team in scoring with 38 points and his 18 goals are second best on the 'Cats' roster. In league play, Micflikier leads Hockey East in both scoring with 29 points and goals with 14.
Regan went 5-1-1 in seven February starts with a 1.91 GAA and a .941 save percentage, and recorded wins against nationally ranked Maine and UMass-Lowell. He allowed two goals or fewer in five of seven starts on the month.
Regan in 15 starts in his freshman season owns a 12-2-1 mark with a 2.34 GAA and a .930 save percentage. He has started the last seven games for the Wildcats. His save percentage overall and in Hockey East games is best of any conference netminder. On the national leaderboard, Regan ranks sixth in save percentage and third in winning percentage at 83.3%.
The Wildcat men's hockey team (22-8-4, 15-4-3 HE) returns to action Thursday, March 3rd at Boston University. Game time at Agganis Arena is 7 p.m.
