WAKEFIELD, Mass.-- Sophomore goaltender Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week by the Hockey East Association on Monday afternoon.
Regan started both games last week and went 1-0-1 against No. 4 ranked Vermont and posted 46 saves for a 1.44 GAA and .939 save percentage. Regan posted 27 saves in Friday night's 2-1 victory at the Whittemore Center and 19 saves in the 2-2 tie on Saturday night. In his last five starts, Regan has posted a 1.56 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
In 11 starts this season, Regan owns a 3-5-3 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .913 save percentage. He has totalled 25 or more saves eight times this season, including a season-high 38 saves on Nov. 19 at UMass-Lowell.
The UNH Wildcats (10-7-4, 8-3-3 Hockey East) return to action on the road Wednesday, January 11th against ECACHL foe Yale University. Game time Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn. is 7 p.m.
