UNH men's hockey announces 06-07 season schedule

DURHAM, N.H. - Head coach Dick Umile of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey program announced the season schedule on Friday afternoon for the upcoming 2006-2007 season.

The Wildcats will open the season with two exhibition games at the Whittemore Center on Oct. 7 vs. St. Francis Xavier and Oct. 14 against the United States Under-18 Team. UNH will officially open the regular-season schedule with two games at Colorado Springs against WCHA powerhouse Colorado College on Oct. 20 (9:30 pm) and 21 (9 p.m.) at the World Arena.

The 'Cats open up Hockey East play at the Whittemore Center on Thursday, Oct. 26 against the University of Massachusetts (7 p.m.). UNH meets conference rival Boston University for the first time on Nov. 10 at Towse Rink and the Terriers return to Durham on Feb. 16 and travel to Agganis Arena the next night on Feb. 17.

The team will travel to Estero, Florida after Christmas for the Florida College Classic at Germain Arena to face Cornell University on Dec. 29 and either Maine or Western Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 30.

UNH will play two more contests at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester in preparation for the 2007 NCAA Northeast Regionals (March 24 and 25) on Saturday, Jan. 13 vs. intrastate rival Dartmouth College in the sixth annual "Battle for the RiverStone Cup" and Friday, Feb. 2 against the University of the Maine Black Bears. The 'Cats also host Maine on Feb. 3 at the Whittemore Center and they take the single-game trip to Orono on Sunday, Nov. 12 at Alfond Arena (2 p.m.).

The team will face the Boston College Eagles on Nov. 22 and March 1 at Conte Forum and BC visits the Whittemore Center on Friday, March 2. UNH takes on the University of Vermont at home on Sunday, Dec. 3 and will make the trip to Burlington's Gutterson Fieldhouse for a two-game set on Jan. 5 and 6.
